Nueva Manteca: ‘Art’
Latin spectacle as a tribute to timeless jazz
'Jazz has to be danceable and have the blues,' Art Blakey said. It is precisely in that spirit that the album ART by Latin jazz sensation Nueva Manteca was created. The six-piece group pays tribute to the legendary drummer Blakey and his band The Jazz Messengers.
Nueva Manteca plays spectacular Latin versions of songs from the 1958 album Moanin', one of the best-selling jazz records ever. In addition, there are lesser-known pieces. ART is also an ode to the founder of Nueva Manteca, Laurens Jan Hartong. You can buy tickets via the ticket link .
