Goethe’s story about the 16th-century scholar and alchemist Faust, who sells his soul to the devil, is fantastic and dramatic. F.W. Murnau’s film features special effects that were highly advanced in 1926. As film score, the NBE performs Franz Liszt’s Eine Faust-Symphonie, arranged and remixed for wind instruments.
