Natalon Kwartet plays Canto Ostinato by Simeon ten Holt
100 years of Simeon ten Holt
Composer Simeon ten Holt was born 100 years ago in Bergen (NH). Stadsherstel Amsterdam honors him with two special compositions by his hand: Canto Ostinato and Incantation IV. Robert Lambermont, Petra van Oort, Laura Sandee and the new quartet member Anna van Nieukerken are Ten Holt specialists from the very beginning and traditionally perform the concerts in the original line-up on four grand pianos.
Canto Ostinato
Canto Ostinato is one of the most famous compositions by a Dutch composer. Today it is performed on many different instruments, but composer Simeon ten Holt wrote the piece explicitly for piano. After all, he regarded the keyboard as an extension of his soul. Natalon Quartet performs Canto Ostinato according to the wishes of the composer, on four Fazioli grand pianos.
The Natalon Quartet consists of pianists Petra van Oort, Laura Sandee, Robert Lambermont and Anna van Nieukerken. Petra, Laura and Robert have been playing together for over 20 years, including under the flag of the former Rondane Quartet. Laura and Anna have been a piano duo since 2002. In June 2022, the pianists joined forces and formed the Natalon Quartet.
