How did tavern music sound in the 17th and 18th centuries? While we know a lot about the music played at royal courts, what did the ‘ordinary people’ listen to? Antoinette Lohmann and Ro Krauss have explored this and have recreated forgotten instruments from the Renaissance and Baroque periods. They present a festive program that demonstrates that folk music from Western Europe is at least as catchy, lively, and danceable as that from the Balkans.
