The first Moonstruck Jazz Night of 2023 in the TOBACCO Theater with master drummer and percussionist Lucas van Merwijk, Ilja Reijngoud (trombone), Samuel Ruiz (bass) and Norman Peplow on piano. Four musical toppers who will take you on a journey through Venezuela, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Trinidad, the Netherlands Antilles, Cuba, Colombia and Puerto Rico in an intimate setting. According to Lucas, Caribbean jazz with a twist. Before the concert you can enjoy a three-course dinner with a Caribbean touch.

Moonstruck Jazz Nights
In the second year of the Moonstruck Jazz Nights at the TOBACCO Theater, the organizers opt for a particularly adventurous musical journey through the north of Latin America. For the kick off of this trip, Moonstruck Jazz Nights invited Lucas van Merwijk to fill in his evening. Van Merwijk chose to come up with this with his latest project Caribbean Postcard.
The internationally acclaimed drummer Lucas van Merwijk, known for his major Latin bands such as Drums United and the Cubop City Big Band, was looking for a more intimate setting for the Caribbean Postcard. Together with Thelonious Monk Award winner Ilja Reijngoud, Venezuelan top bass player Samuel Ruiz and piano talent Norman Peplow, Lucas gives a quirky twist to the rich Caribbean music repertoire.
