Maria de Fatima - Met Ziel en Zang
New own work
During the forced rest period of the corona crisis, fado diva Maria de Fátima made her most personal program 'Met Ziel en Zang'. Here the emphasis is on new own work and arrangements of songs that are close to her heart. Of course, the traditional fado is also present.
The singer, born and raised in the working-class neighborhood of Boavista in Lisbon, started her singing career at the age of nine. From then on, her life consisted solely of music. At the age of twelve she was already on stage together with Amália Rodrigues. She often performed together with her mother Maria de Travassos and sang the Portuguese song of life with her. Apart from the traditional fados, her repertoire consisted partly of music that was specially composed for her.
At the age of 21, Maria chose permanent residence in the Netherlands, where her career continued to develop. Maria de Fátima grew into a well-known fadista who received the highest presidential award 'Order of Infante D.Henrique' in 2016.
