Marc Albrecht with Ligeti and Strauss
Marc Albrecht has said goodbye to the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra as chief conductor but remains loyal to the orchestra as a guest. He conducts two symphonic works used in one of the greatest science fiction films of all time: 2001: A Space Odyssey. Ligeti's Atmosphères is a highly concentrated exploration of the sound field phenomenon. In Also Sprach Zarathustra, Richard Strauss gives an impression of Nietzsche's famous book of the same name. The opening bars with the sunrise and the awakening of the perfect man are crushing.
Daniel Lozakovich plays Bruch's Violin Concerto
Still young but more than promising is the Swedish violinist Daniel Lozakovich. When he was only fifteen, he was the youngest violinist to get a permanent contract with the famous record company Deutsche Grammophon. The 'Prince of the Violin', as he is called, plays Bruch's well-known First Violin Concerto . 'Every virtuoso's dream', wrote a reviewer at the world premiere. With the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, Lozakovich can more than make that dream come true.
