Inspiration
Alessandro Mahmoud was born in Milan to an Italian mother and an Egyptian father. His father left the family when Mahmood was five, and this gave him a lot of inspiration. Mahmood wraps his intimate, personal lyrics in catchy electronic pop, including influences from rap, R&B, Frank Ocean, Paolo Conte, the Middle East and North Africa.
San Remo Music Festival
Mahmood won the prestigious San Remo music festival twice and was therefore able to represent Italy twice at the Eurovision Song Contest (in 2019 and 2022). Both songs, 'Soldi' and 'Brividi', become big hits. Since his first Eurovision Song Contest, the singer-songwriter has consistently topped the streaming charts in Italy, his albums 'Ghettolimpo' and 'Gioventù Bruciata' are selling like hotcakes and he immediately sold out his first tours.
