This year's King's Day concert by Maestro Jules is a colorful series of varied and surprising music. Not only is the anniversary of the now 100-year-old Rhapsody in Blue (George Gershwin) with piano talent Aidan Mikdad celebrated, but well-known opera and operetta melodies are also featured. Think of the Habanera from Bizet's Carmen or the swooning hits of Franz Lehar, supplemented with the already classic film hits of John Williams ( ET ) and Ennio Morricone ( Cinema Paradiso ). You will also be introduced to the magic of one of the most bizarre instruments available: the theremin. The signature tune of Midsomer Murders features the expressive, emotional sound of the only musical instrument that is played without being touched. Maestro Jules (conductor Jules van Hessen), also known as 'the Stand-up conductor' presents and conducts the 50-piece Maestro Jules Orchestra.

Laetitia Gerards, Aidan Mikdad and Thorwald Jørgensen

The Dutch soprano Laetitia Gerards (1993) won the Princess Christina Competition at a young age and sang with renowned companies such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and the Dutch Reisopera. She recently made her debut with the National Opera and is also making an international appearance in the concert halls of Berlin, Paris, Brussels and Luxembourg. Laetitia is at home in a wide variety of styles: she not only sings opera and classical repertoire, but also Broadway classics, jazz standards, and is increasingly asked by contemporary composers for world premieres.

22 year old Aidan Mikdad is considered one of the greatest Dutch piano talents of his generation. He graduated with a 10 summa cum laude, won numerous prizes, including the prestigious Concertgebouw Young Talent Award and recently the Royal Academy of Music Bicentenary Prize. Aidan is also successful as a streaming artist: his debut album The Scriabin Ravel Connection on Qobuz won the Qobuzissime Prize.

Born in Zaltbommel, Thorwald Jørgensen now plays concerts as a soloist all over the world with numerous orchestras, including Brussels Philharmonic, Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, Boston Philharmonic, Orchester Métropolitain de Montréal and Royal Stockholm Philharmonic. Thorwald does this on the theremin, invented in 1919 by the Russian scientist Lev Termen and a unique instrument that has no relation to existing instruments. As a result, the theremin offers a new, fascinating way of making music. The theremin is a box with two antennas. When it is turned on, electromagnetic fields form around the antennas, which the musician uses to create different sounds. By waving the hands in front of the instrument, the melodies are created out of 'nowhere'.
