High-profile debut

She made her controversial debut on stage at the Bimhuis together with star guitarist Charlie Hunter. Now singer Lucy Woodward is back with 'Stories From The Dust', perhaps her most personal album to date. On it she sings about the unconventional, independent women who raised her, the women she grew up with or observed from afar. In honest, sensitive songs that draw inspiration from blues, flamenco and the female voices of Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66. And with Nina Simone and Bill Withers as shining examples.

Musical nest

Lucy Woodward was born into a musical family in London and grew up in the Netherlands and New York. She made several solo albums, wrote pop hits and sang with Snarky Puppy, including on the Grammy-winning album Family Dinner Vol. 1. She also worked with Rod Stewart, Chaka Khan and Carole King. She wrote “Stories From the Dust” in downtown LA with her co-producer, Grammy winner David Garza, who previously worked with Fiona Apple and Gaby Moreno. The album features Tim Lefebvre and Larry Goldings, among others. In her Dutch band, Lucy plays with guitarist Jelle Roozenburg, bassist Udo Pannekeet and drummer Niek de Bruijn.
