Luciano Maio is a musician, painter and poet, born in 1950 in Milazzo, Sicily. He is the founder of the Sicilian band Taberna Mylaensis . This band was founded in the late 1970s as a protest group, but increasingly focused on the rich and diverse Sicilian music. Over the years, an extensive repertoire emerged with songs with Celtic, Arabic, Greek, French, Spanish and North African influences. Luciano Maio is the writer and inspiration for the songs of Taberna Mylaensis, a name derived from his birthplace. In his lyrics, Maio often refers to his beloved Sicily and the Mediterranean Sea.

Special program

In this special program Luciano plays together with the Dutch artist and composer Dieter van der Westen . Dieter is a singer-songwriter of his own Americana songs and also one of the driving forces behind the Dutch Moroccan band Kasba, with which he has (inter)national success. In the Netherlands he has worked with the Metropole Orchestra, Frank Boeijen, Blof, The Lau, Eric Vloeimans and Paul de Leeuw.
