Lucas and Arthur Jussen in Mendelssohn's Double Concerto

Lucas and Arthur Jussen take their place behind the grand piano for one of Mendelssohn's early works. The composer was only fourteen when writing the Double Concerto in E. Even then, the performance was a family affair because Felix and his older sister, Fanny, were the soloists at the first performance. Like all other compositions that Mendelssohn wrote in his teenage years, this rarely performed work is also a true masterpiece.

The Dutch Chamber Orchestra with two Serenades by Dvořák

In addition, the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, with musical director Gordan Nikolić, will play a world premiere by Mathilde Wantenaar and two serenades by Dvořák. It shows two different faces of the Czech master. In the serenade for wind instruments, he is guided by the classical serenades as Mozart wrote in the eighteenth century, although a Czech folk melody also appears here and there. He wrote the Serenade for Strings in just twelve days. It is a wonderfully romantic, light-hearted work in five short character pieces.
