Lars Danielsson Liberetto – Cloudland
Lars Danielsson has been known for decades as a double bass player for greats such as John Scofield, Jack DeJohnette and Mike Stern. The Swedish jazz musician always seems to have the edge over his bass-playing colleagues because of his particular sense of melody, which developed during his classical cello training.
Lars Danielsson Liberetto – Cloudland
Star formation around Swedish master bassist and cellist
In the band Liberetto, Lars Danielsson remains true to his own style, which can be described as spacious, lyrical and melancholic. On the recent album Cloudland, Liberetto welcomes a new drummer, Magnus Öström, formerly a member of the successful piano trio EST (Esbjörn Svensson Trio). The group also consists of the Martinique-born rising star on piano Grégory Privat, and the experienced British guitarist John Parricelli, who has collaborated with Lee Konitz, Paul Motian and Kenny Wheeler, among others.
