Klapstuk: Classical Highlights with pianist Vivianne Cheng
Klapstuk is an hour of highlights from the classical repertoire. Short pieces, a taste of everything, like musical tapas. In between bites, you'll get commentary from a host and the players. Tonight, Vivianne Cheng will serve up works by Mozart, Liszt and Scriabin. Dutch is spoken during this episode of Klapstuk.
Vivianne Cheng is an all-round musician. The American pianist, who lives in the Netherlands, has participated in many competitions, plays old and new music and teaches. She first performed in public at the age of six, and since then, her musical path has been rich and varied. She took masterclasses from big names. In 2020, Cheng received the 'Hero Pin' from the city of Amsterdam after she initiated several boat concerts music played while sailing through the canals during the pandemic. Tonight, she treats you to works by Mozart, Liszt and Scriabin.
Klapstuk is the evening to discover classical music. For an hour, you will hear short highlights from beloved pieces, with explanations in between by a host and the musicians. No prior knowledge of music is necessary. Short pieces mean a little taste of everything. Musical tapas. Klapstuk is served in the lovely and intimate Recital Hall of the Concertgebouw, so you sit on top of the musicians. And after the concert, you don't have to go home straight away. The bar is open, and you can request a song from our house pianist, and it doesn't necessarily have to be classical music!
