While for his previous albums, Julien was often inspired by various spiritual workshops and trainings, he took a different path for this project by entering into a unique collaboration with his mother, Marinette Oomen-Myin. For Les Cahiers de Marinette, Julien took the beautiful texts his mother wrote around the age of twenty as a starting point and asked her to write a second volume to those texts, half a century later, with her new perspectives on the same subjects.
This created a journey through time, an intergenerational songbook full of personal stories with a hatch to the universal. With Les Cahiers de Marinette, Julien's long-cherished dream to release a French-language record came true, and he also pays tribute to his French musical influences. Julien will be accompanied by Lenneke van Staalen (Indian violin) and Marinette Oomen-Myin, who has her own narrative place in the performance.
