Violinist Shin Sihan has made musical friends all over the world in recent years. Some of them are guests in this concert in the Young Dutch series. The Grachtenfestivalprijs winner of 2020 brings an exciting program. He explores the emerging music genres in America a century ago, and their influence on classical composers. Milhaud, Ravel, Korngold, they all listened to film music, jazz and blues, and did their own thing with it.

Shin Sihan plays a number of pieces together with the Spanish pianist Gorka Plada Girón. In Ravel's Sonata in G they show how the composer was inspired by the jazz he heard in Parisian cafes. There was also the American George Antheil, who mixed music from 'home' with avant-garde European influences. Milhaud plays the festive Cinéma fantasy 'Le boeuf sur le toit' . In Korngold's Piano Quintet , the duo is joined by violinist In Mo Yang, violist Takehiro Konoe and cellist Mon-Puo Lee.
