Frank Braley brings Waalse Kerk
Frank Braley brings absolute audience favorites to De Waalse Kerk this evening. Before the break, the focus will be on Viennese composers with works that each have an improvising character. This concert is part of The Bösendorfer Series.
Moments of introspection are conveyed with great beauty
Starting with Schubert's intimate Impromptu in C minor, followed by Beethoven's 32 variations, his greatest tribute to the Baroque. Braley then plays a selection of Brahms's last piano works, op.116-119, which are among his best-loved piano works. After the interval, the contrast couldn't be greater: Debussy's emotional preludes against Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue swinging out of the church! With Braley's outspoken musical ideas, characterized by humour, poetry, modesty, grace and unwavering sincerity, it promises to be a special evening.
