Frank Braley brings Waalse Kerk
Moments of introspection are conveyed with great beauty
Starting with Schubert's intimate Impromptu in C minor, followed by Beethoven's 32 variations, his greatest tribute to the Baroque. Braley then plays a selection of Brahms's last piano works, op.116-119, which are among his best-loved piano works. After the interval, the contrast couldn't be greater: Debussy's emotional preludes against Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue swinging out of the church! With Braley's outspoken musical ideas, characterized by humour, poetry, modesty, grace and unwavering sincerity, it promises to be a special evening.
