Floris Kappeyne Trio
The Floris Kappeyne Trio has existed for ten years this year. For the recording of their recently released album Closer, Floris Kappeyne, Tijs Klaassen and Wouter Kühne went to Château St Loup, deep in the French Garonne. Together they recorded the album by means of close-miking (microphones that are very close to the instruments), making the result sound incredibly intimate. Hypnotic rhythmic patterns, compelling electronic timbres and the atmospheric accompaniment of Klaassen on double bass and Kühne on drums support Kappeyne's sparse, thoughtful piano playing in a style that breaks through the boundaries between composition and spontaneity.
Matthias van den Brande Trio
Mutual friendship and a solid musical bond form the foundation for the Matthias Van den Brande Trio. Saxophonist Matthias Van den Brande has lived everywhere, from his native Belgium to the United States. His melodic compositions are rooted in the jazz tradition, and at the same time, the trio sounds contemporary and accessible. In this concert, they present their new album, Three Sides of a Coin.
