Fifty for the Future
In the first weekend of May, the Muziekgebouw and the BIMHUIS are all about 50 for the Future, the magnum opus of the Kronos Quartet, an event not to be missed for lovers of the string quartet. Ten top quartets play all fifty new works in one weekend, a unique experience that can only be experienced in Amsterdam. Those who want can listen to all fifty pieces, together about eight hours of music. It is also possible to make a selection of different parts of the day.

Party! In 2023, the legendary Kronos Quartet will exist fifty years, and that will be celebrated. To add luster to the anniversary, the American quartet asked fifty composers from all corners of the world to write a new string quartet: 50 for the Future. The fifty pieces reflect the sound of the world, composed by the most diverse and fascinating composers of our time.
Meet the composers! During the 50 for the Future weekend, Fodé Lassana Diabaté, Jlin Patton, Aleksandra Vrebalov, and Charlton Singleton, among others, will explain their work, and there will be talks and panel discussions.
