HearAndNow
HearAndNow is a young chamber music festival in Amsterdam where new compositions and familiar repertoire are performed alongside each other in various ensembles and concert formats. Each year, the festival programs around a themed composer. In 2026, that composer is Karol Szymanowski. Both Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel were major influences on his musical language and formed the basis for his characteristic soundscape.
Debussy, Ravel and Szymanowski
The concert centers on Debussy's String Quartet , a work brimming with sensuality, subtle shifts in color, and a quest for innovation; qualities that resonate strongly with Szymanowski's own style. Ravel's Introduction et Allegro will also be performed. The HearAndNow Festival Orchestra will combine these works with excerpts from The Fundamentals by Camiel Jansen, the new Composer of the Netherlands. Under the baton of conductor Sam Weller and featuring musicians who performed in various formations throughout the festival, this concert forms a festive conclusion to HearAndNow 2026.
