"The name El Comité is actually a joke," drummer Rodney Barreto explained in an interview with the Slagwerkkrant. 'When you talk about 'Comit��' in Cuba, you immediately think of a government institution like Comité de Defensa de la Revolución, so we immediately get people laughing in Cuba when we mention our name.' Co-founder Barreto played with Cuban legends such as Omara Portuondo and Chucho Valdés. The other members also have impressive careers full of big names such as Buena Vista Social Club, Irakere, David Murray, Esperanza Spalding and Richard Bona.

After the concert there is Salsa Panorama, a Cuban salsa party in the café with fantastic views, where you can dance until the early hours.
