Eddy Veldman Quartet plays Paramaribop

Eddy Veldman, born in 1951 in Paramaribo, has an enormous track record. He is particularly known for his dynamic, creative and imaginative drumming, and also plays vibraphone and guitar. In addition, he is an extremely driven professional, an entertainer and an inspiration for many other drummers. He is, among other things, one of the founders of the Surinam Music Ensemble in the early 1980s, which distinguished itself with a unique mix of jazz, traditional Surinamese kaseko rhythms and American bepop in Paramaribo. Today, Eddy Veldman is a much sought-after session and studio musician with an intriguing and varied discography. He has also taught percussion for over two decades at the Amsterdam Music School and his own Eddy Veldman Drum Academy (EVDA). He also leads jam sessions and participates in diverse musical projects. He also regularly tours with various formations at home and abroad.

Peggy Burke is in the kitchen and makes a varied Surinamese special every week for the Keti Koti month. With the crowning touch being Pom & Pastei on the last Thursday of the month! Buy a combination ticket for the Concert + Pom & Pastei or book directly with Peggy.

Plein Theater month for Keti Koti

Keti Koti month takes place annually in June in the run-up to Keti Koti on July 1. This month is all about remembering and reflecting on the Netherlands's slavery past and its consequences today. Plein Theater in Amsterdam Oost, located next to Oosterpark and the National Monument to the History of Slavery, explicitly reflects on this moment and this month. They'll organise various activities in June on topics that touch on the history of slavery and colonialism, curated by Peggy Burke and Berith Danse.
