Dutch Mountain Tribe

Although Dutch Mountain Tribe is based in the Netherlands, it includes five nationalities. And the German saxophonist Fabian Dudek also looks beyond borders with his band. Dutch Mountain Tribe spins a fabric of idiosyncratic melodies, intoxicating rhythms and fiery improvisations. They look like folk songs from a mythical Dutch mountain landscape, coloured by an arsenal of percussion instruments, flutes, bagpipes and other objects from the immense collection of band leader Koen Boeijinga. This versatile wind player and composer put together a seven-piece group with both young and established musicians.

Fabian Dudek

For Fabian Dudek, music serves as a starting point towards pure ecstasy. His compositions cannot be pinned down to a genre. In doing so, he takes an example from jazz adventurer Ambrose Akinmusire, but his saxophone playing also shows influences from funk legend Maceo Parker. He collaborated with classical musicians and pop artists and was a member of the prestigious Federal Jazz Orchestra. A striking role in his band is reserved for singing bassist Ruth Goller from London, who previously worked with Paul McCartney and Marc Ribot.
