Eddy Hoorenman : At the age of six, grandpa gave him an accordion as a gift and he taught him the first chords himself. Through an Amsterdam music school accordion club and private lessons Eddy was already young in the profession. During a performance in a café he met his great idol, accordionist Johnny Meijer. A friendly relationship developed between the two men. Johnny played in the San Remobar in Amsterdam in the evening. One evening he had to miss out to receive a gold record with the “Dutch Swing College Band”. He asked Eddy to replace him this evening and Eddy played the accordion all evening in Johnny Meijer's bar. It was 1974 and that was the first time that Eddy played together with bassist/singer Manke Nelis.
