Bach wrote his motets for special occasions and often for a one-off performance. They are therefore not all well archived and some motets have probably been lost. Daniel Reuss: 'I also call them the bible of music. I have lived with these motets for about forty years and I can dream them. There are no pieces that I have studied more, or to which I feel more connected. I think it is fantastic to be able to conduct the works again after many years.'
