Bychkov en het Concertgebouworkest - Glanert en Mendelssohn
Bychkov, Glanert & Mendelssohn
Conductor Semyon Bychkov shares with the Concertgebouw Orchestra a great love for the music of Detlev Glanert, the symphonic master storyteller. This time Glanert's Prager Sinfonie is on the music stand, with texts by the Prague writer Franz Kafka. In addition to influences from Brahms, Mahler and Ravel, among others, Glanert's symphonic work reflects his experience as an opera composer. Like no other, Glanert knows the power of drama and the human voice. In the Prager Sinfonie he combines Kafka's storytelling through Tanja Ariane Baumgartner and Christian Immler with the richness of color of the orchestra. Felix Mendelssohn was also such a musical storyteller, as evidenced by his atmospheric 'Scottish' symphony .
