Brass band Pro Rege

Music association Pro Rege was founded in 1924. Initially as a fanfare orchestra, but in 1967 the switch was made to the English brass band form. A brass band is an orchestra with a uniform composition of brass instruments and percussionists. Pro Rege consists of a group of enthusiastic amateur musicians who make music at a high level under the professional guidance of conductor Anne van den Berg. The repertoire is broad and diverse. From folk music to classical, from church music to popular music. The diversity in music styles is also what sets Pro Rege apart. This is evident from the many collaborations, such as performances with Jan Vayne or Thijs van Leer, but also with Henk Poort or Guus Meeuwis. The warm brass band sound in particular is so typical of Pro Rege. And that has been the case for 100 years!

Frysk Youth Orchestra

The Frysk Youth Orchestra has a symphonic line-up of approximately 65 young musicians and is led by conductor Douwe Nauta. The orchestra aims to offer young musicians from Fryslân a platform to enjoy making music together in an orchestra with a symphonic line-up. The Frysk Youth Orchestra has the ambition to inspire each individual orchestra member to develop and enjoy themselves. The Orchestra regularly gives performances at home and abroad. In addition to the symphonic repertoire, film music and musical works are also regularly on the stands.
