Especially for their 50th anniversary, BIMHUIS Loves is collaborating with various venues and breeding grounds in Amsterdam. Together with these partners in jazz, they are organizing 5 exciting concerts on 5 Wednesdays in October at special locations: Roode Bioscoop, Zaal100, ZOJazzStage, Splendor and Sexyland World. The entire program is now known.

Asher Gamedze & James McClure

Asher Gamedze is a drummer, composer and bandleader from Cape Town, known for his versatile style that combines free improvisation, soul, rock 'n roll and South African musical traditions. Gamedze has performed extensively in Africa, Europe and the US and has built a strong reputation for his dynamic live performances. Trumpeter James McClure is a breath of fresh air in Amsterdam improvisation with contemporary jazz. Under the umbrella of SITProductions he has formed a new band, Sofaya, that explores the rich and diverse culture of South African music. In SEXYLAND world the friends perform together for the first time and for the first time in Amsterdam.

Rave and Lumley have been central figures in the Amsterdam improvisation scene for years, known for their dynamic presence and innovative contributions. For this special evening they are happy to join forces as part of this unique ad hoc quartet.

SOFAYA Soundsystem

SOFAYA Soundsystem is a collective of South African artists from the band SOFAYA (supported by SITP), now taking on the role of DJ collective. Last year they set the BIMHUIS on fire with their infectious energy and unique sound, a mix of Afrobeat, jazz, house and more.
