Vox Luminis has been a regular at the Muziekgebouw for years, and for good reason. With pristine harmonies and fresh energy, they perform centuries-old pieces as if they were composed only yesterday. Last year, they gave a stunning Christmas concert featuring music by Handel, and now they're building on that success with two Bach masterpieces.

Vox Luminis sings a special Christmas version of Bach's Magnificat

The cantata "Christen, ätzet diesen Tag" was also special for Bach himself: it was his first Christmas as musical director of the Thomaskirche in Leipzig. That same year, he adapted his own Magnificat into a special Christmas version by changing the instrumentation and adding German Christmas carols, known as laudes. This special version is not often performed, but Vox Luminis does.
