With this festive program, the musicians of Asko|Schönberg take off their hats to all their anonymous colleagues who have been singing about universal emotions since time immemorial. Leoš Janáček proves that the step from the street to the concert hall can be a small one with his arrangement of Moravian folk songs.

Unsuk Chin is inspired by the street theatre of her youth in Seoul. Her spirited music contrasts with the naive approach of John Adams, who pays tribute to his father and their shared instrument, the clarinet. Thomas van Dun's latest work is a reflection on the afterlife. His admiration for Ligeti is audible in his use of chorales and sound clouds.
