Ari Hoenig
is a jazz drummer known for his melodic playing, emphasizing complex rhythms in direct harmony with other group members. The Philadelphia-born musician made name as an accompanist. For example, on our stage he could be heard in the bands of Kenny Werner, Chris Potter, and Kurt Rosenwinkel. Now he presents his trio with pianist Nitai Hershkovits and double bassist Matt Penman. For a long time Ari Hoenig played his weekly gig in the famous Smalls Jazz Club in New York, leading bands with various groups of musicians. He has also proven himself as a composer. For his recent studio album Goldenes Schätze, recorded in his hometown Brooklyn, he composed the title track, among others. The original compositions were embedded in standards by the likes of Duke Ellington, Sonny Rollins en Wayne Shorter.
