Angels sings Trobairitz - Concert
Workshop together with Angels
After an inspiring singing and study week in Toulouse at the beginning of May, Angels can't wait to share Occitan music with the public.
Do you also want to learn to sing polyphonic songs in Occitan? Then come to a unique workshop prior to the concert. Learn from and together with Angels, under the inspiring guidance of Tatiana Lina. And of course, Angels will sing these songs with you, if you like, in front of an audience in the atmospheric English Church.
About Trobairitz
Toulouse is the capital of Occitania in southern France. There we followed in the footsteps of 'the trobairitz', female troubadours from the 12th and 13th centuries. In music history they are known as the first female composers and poets in Western history. How special is that? Occitan is therefore the oldest living literary language in Western Europe. A beautiful mix of French and Spanish/Catalan, the language in which they composed and wrote their verses. These women dared to articulate their views on love and relationships with a frankness that was surprising for their time. They used their art to assert their autonomy, courageously navigating a landscape often hostile to female voices. These powerful voices echo even in our present.
