Amsterdam Andalusisch Orkest & Mary Lake (ADE)
As part of the Amsterdam Dance Event, DJ Mary Lake meets the Amsterdam Andalusian Orchestra. Mary Lake plays unorthodox techno and electro with an experimental edge. She grew up in Algeria, France and the Netherlands and started as a DJ in London. You can hear that international character in her work, for example in her radio show Worshipping Discordia. Nowadays Mary Lake is a well-known DJ in Amsterdam and often plays in Melbourne and Berlin.

Different styles
Tonight she will collaborate with the Amsterdam Andalusian Orchestra with a special role for Hamza Amrani, up-and-coming virtuoso on the stringed instruments oud and rabab. His intriguing playing is grounded in Moroccan, Arabic and Andalusian music. He is a member of the Amsterdam Andalusian Orchestra, which plays various styles from areas from Granada to Baghdad, from various time periods. From the rich Arabo-Andalus repertoire to the mystical Eastern music; and from refined improvisation forms from the Arab world to folk music from the Maghreb.
