Cultural depth
The performances sketch an area in space and time with great spiritual, artistic and cultural intensity from 1880 to 1890. This decade is characterized by a spiritual climate that tried to produce its own style and connotation. It was a prosperous period for the Italian cultural world in which chamber music found its place and defined its considerable cultural depth. It is a period marked by a cultural struggle in which Italian musicians have struggled to establish themselves in the world of opera in Italy and, in the field of instrumental music, in Germany.
Busoni, Martucci and Cilea have charted a path that, on the one hand, contains elements inspired by Romanticism and, on the other hand, defines enlightened stylistic innovations for future generations. The concert is the second of a tour organized by the music association Associazione Musicale Opera Prima and included in the Puglia Sounds Export 2023 programming under the motto "actions to promote local culture, creativity and tourism".
Programme
G. Martucci, Sonata in fa diesis minor Op. 52 for cello and piano
B. Busoni, Small Suite Op. 23 for cello and piano
