A Wanderer's Tale
Background
The idea for the performance arose after Milou decided to walk through the city for three months. No bicycle, no car, no public transport. That radical slowdown brought people into her path and their way of seeing that she would otherwise have missed entirely. Inspired by the encounters, Milou wrote lyrics and music that she recorded with musicians from the pop, classical and jazz impro scene from the Netherlands, Belgium and Spain.
The performance and the musical audio story will premiere during the National Week against Loneliness on 30 September in the Roode Cinema. The project is a plea to slow down and listen, especially now and here, where people from all over the world live close together yet remain complete strangers.
Milou: “It is said that children show us how magical the world really is. Since I walk, I believe that adults can also do a lot of it.”
