It's estimated that in 2050, 80% of the world's population will live in cities. This raises issues in terms of nature, liveability, and the supply of food, water and energy. Aeres Hogeschool Almere equips students with the knowledge required to keep cities liveable, with programmes around themes of food, nature and urban green development.

Study programmes focus on actual, hands-on practice — students are expected to complete a full-time traineeship in a middle management job as part of the programme. Many programmes are offered in English, including the four-year bachelor programme of European Food Business and several short programmes, such as Plant Breeding and Smart Green Cities.
