The theatre was constructed especially for performances of ANNE, a production delving into the life and times of Anne Frank. The unique theatre features a number of special additions in order to accommodate a spectacular range of décor.
Although the Theater Amsterdam is being built with ANNE in mind, it will be perfectly positioned to host other international productions after the initial run of shows has ended. Looking out on the waters of the River IJ, the theatre hopes to also be able to welcome visitors arriving by boat.
Theatre Amsterdam is located just outside the centre and is easily accessible by bike, car and public transport. The theatre’s restaurant ‘Boven de Planken’ is the ideal place for lunch or dinner before catching the performance.
