Salon op Zuid. Hemingway’s The Old Man and the Sea

Hemingway’s The Old Man and the Sea is the story of a Cuban fisherman who struggles with a giant fish, while fishing out at sea. The work explores our fight to survive when life and death and humanity and nature are juxtaposed. The readings are paired with trumpet and piano music from the United States by Antheil and Bernstein as well as the humorous solo trumpet works by Dutch composer Louis Andriessen.
