Wry comedy about heaven and hell in the here and now

'One of the shittiest performances I've ever seen', said a critic after the premiere of A Divine Comedy by Austrian dance maker Florentina Holzinger. In the literal sense of the word, because he gave the production no less than 4.5 (out of 5).

Uncompromising dance theatre

If necessary, the performers – dress code: naked – let body substances flow. Literally, everything is pulled out to deconstruct gender relations and the representation of the female body in the media and art. Or just say: to shatter. Holzinger mixes up trash, live masturbation, gory slasher movies, slapstick and silly magic acts. She hops with a sublime sense of irony through a dizzying amount of quotes and symbols from (dance) art history.
