It’s hard to argue that The 1975’s rise to the upper echelons of rock royalty has been anything other than meteoric. In fact, they just might be the world’s biggest (rock) band right now. Yes, Foo Fighters, QOTSA etc. are still all here, but it’s hard to think of a more vibrant and, dare we say it, woke act that’s on The 1975’s level. And in Matt Healy, they have one of the greatest frontmen of the last decade or so. Though their sonic explorations aren’t always a success, you have to admire a band of their size that’s still prepared to take risks.
