Israeli singer-songwriter Asaf Avidan instantly became world famous when Wankelmut remixed his track 'One Day'. However, Avidan has proven to be anything but a one-hit wonder. With his characteristic voice that floats somewhere between Janis Joplin and Robert Plant, and a gift for a large mountain of instruments, he returns to the Melkweg in Amsterdam in September.
Inspiration from many music genres
For his upcoming seventh album "Anagnorisis" Avidan drew inspiration from other genres than usual such as hip hop, modern pop, gospel music and listened to Thom Yorke, The Fugees, David Bowie, old school jazz and even contemporary pop like Billie Eilish or Kanye West. "The result is a schizophrenic jungle of characters that express who I really am".
