The joy that comes across in the playing of Winther-Storm clearly indicated that the founders of the band have been performing together for more than half their lives. Double bassist Thomas Winther Andersen and guitarist Håkon Storm, both born in Oslo, made name in the group Line Up with Jimmy Halperin, saxophonist and composer from the Lennie Tristano school. Winther’s and Storm’s compositions also display the influence of Tristano’s ingenious melodies and harmonies. Amsterdam is the home base of their band Winther-Storm, which features Argentinean tenor player Natalio Sued and Dutch drummer Mark Coehoorn. In their dynamic and their widely varied sound they incorporate developments in jazz from the past 50 years. Natalio Sued previously played at the BIMHUIS with All Ellington and Tetzepi. Marc Coehoorn has performed with the likes of Benjamin Herman and Jesse van Ruller.
