Calm before the morning rush storm
Silence' is a concert series that takes place early in the morning. Before we immerse ourselves in the hustle and bustle of everyday life, we take the time to enter a different world with this unusual morning activity. The musicians and artists performing in the series always do so in the context of the medieval church, playing with the unique acoustic properties of the enormous space.
The young Swedish composers Maria W Horn and Mats Erlandsson are both part of the avant-garde company 'Sthlm Drone Society'. Horn is interested in the manipulation of time and space through extremes of sound. She plays with human perception in her concerts, developing her work around questions 'How do psycho-acoustic phenomena function?' and 'How do they make us transcend our everyday reality and bring us into an alternative mental state?'.
