On his own, Richard Bona could fill every stage with his presence and his luxuriant blend of bass guitar and vocals, often in his own dialect from Cameroon. Currently he forms a duo with Cuban piano wonder boy Alfredo Rodríguez, who was discovered by Quincy Jones. With breathtaking virtuosity they reveal the close relations between African and Cuban music. With his seemingly effortless mix of voice and lightning-speed bass, Richard Bona has often been compared to his idol Jaco Pastorius. Following collaborations with Pat Metheny and Joe Zawinul, he forged his own path and discovered Afro-Cuban music. In Alfredo Rodríguez he has found a dream partner, a pianist and arranger who can set every kind of music ablaze.
