Quiana Lynell’s debut album A Little Love is a feast of soul, gospel, r&b and groovejazz. The American jazz vocalist chose songs from the past, from Nina Simone to Chaka Khan and from Donny Hathaway to Irma Thomas. She links those songs to her own story, her experiences and her deepest feelings on love and social consciousness. Quiana Lynell grew up in Texas, sang in church and finished her classical vocal education in New Orleans. Her career went full steam after she won the prestigious Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition in 2017. ’She tells a story. If you listen carefully, she tells her story and even your story because she brings the walls down between herself and the audience like all great singers do,’ says famous trumpeter Terence Blanchard, who let her perform with a 75-piece orchestra.
