Imaginative improvisations

Miguel Zenón is above all a great alto saxophonist, appreciated for his rich tone, powerful playing and imaginative improvisations. As a composer, he often focuses on the culture of his native Puerto Rico and of the Puerto Rican community in his hometown of New York.

His recent album El Arte Del Bolero is dedicated to the bolero, the widely loved dance music from the fifties. He made this album with Luis Perdomo, pianist in his regular quartet with whom he performs at the BIMHUIS.
