Awarded as a new tastemaker

The National Youth Jazz Orchestra (NJJO) has a new artistic director every two years. In 2019 and 2020 that was singer/pianist Ruben Hein, who handed over the baton to Maarten Hogenhuis. The saxophone maestro will lead the NJJO until the end of 2022. The NJJO has already been awarded the Zilveren Notekraker by 30,000 fellow musicians and artists as a new tastemaker on the stages. Led by Maarten Hogenhuis, the twenty top talents of the NJJO 2021 go through a coaching process, linked to tours and various and international collaboration projects. Alto saxophonist Maarten Hogenhuis is a member of the power jazz formation BRUUT!, he plays in duo with guitarist Jesse van Ruller and also leads his own trio.
