Jorge Rossy

As one of the most successful drummers of his generation, Jorge Rossy lived for many years in the US, where he attracted large crowds with the Brad Mehldau Trio. He has also collaborated with greats such as Paquito D'Rivera, Woody Shaw and Charlie Haden. In 2000 he moved back to his native city of Barcelona and became increasingly heard as a pianist and vibraphonist. In his current trio, Jorge Rossy focuses on vibraphone and marimba. His compositions are characterized by clear, carefully constructed melodies, in which he leaves a lot of space for the other players, double bassist Robert Landfermann and master drummer Jeff Ballard. The trio's first album, Puerta, will be released on ECM Records.
