Drummer Joost Patocka is a household name with the Dutch jazz crowd. In the past thirty years he has performed with the trio of saxophonist Benjamin Herman, with vocalists Rita Reys, Francien van Tuinen and Ruben Hein, with saxophonists Piet Noordijk, Maarten Hogenhuis and Branford Marsalis, in the trio of guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel and, of course, in the band he co-founded with his drumming colleague Stefan Kruger, called Krupa & The Genes. With this new project Jazz for the Millions, for the first time he forms a band around himself. Joost will not be the accompanist but the band leader of an all-star band, which he will take on a hike. He’ll focus on the music that has formed him, featuring compositions by a wide variety of artists, from Monk to Marsalis and Miles to Mengelberg.
