Jazzmeia Horn is one of the promising young jazz musicians of the moment according to Downbeat. The leading jazz magazine included her in the '25 for the Future' list. The singer from New York is not only influenced by the virtuoso vocal lines and scats of Sarah Vaughan but also by the R&B of Mary J. Blige and Erykah Badu, by hip hop and spoken word. The young vocalist from New York is seen as the future of jazz and performs at the Bimhuis.

About Jazzmeia Horn
Jazzmeia Horn developed a talent for composing and arranging, including through collaboration with WDR Big Band and the Metropole Orchestra. Jazzmeia Horn started singing in a gospel choir at the age of three. She soon left the children's choir and was allowed to sing with the adults.
Since then, she has won all major prizes, including the prestigious Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz International Vocals Competition. She received compliments from famous colleagues such as Al Jarreau and Jon Hendricks and was compared to legendary singers such as Betty Carter and Sarah Vaughan, but also to successful contemporaries such as Gregory Porter and Cécile McLorin Salvant.
